How I Stopped Worrying and Learned to Love Eberron
Dura
Stretching the entire western side of Sharn, this city district is markedly poorer than the rest of the city. It mostly houses commercial interests, with a collection of cheap residences, even in the upper levels. Goblinoids and races from Droaam are found in the heaviest concentration here. Most of the Upper districts were built within the last hundred years.
- Upper Districts
- Clifftop
- This district caters to mostly reputable adventurers, focusing on those returning from Xen’drik.
- Daggerwatch
- Daggerwatch holds the largest outpost of the Sharn Watch and their associated law enforcement bureaucrats. Many Watch officers also live here.
- Highhold
- This dwarf-designed district is the richest in Dura, mixing residential and commercial interests.
- Highwater
- The nicest residential district in Dura, its topography allowing for the best view of the Dagger River sunset outside of Skyway.
- Hope’s Peak
- Centered on the Citadel of the Sun (Dol Arrah’s main temple), this district is mostly places of worship.
- Overlook
- One of the largest residential districts in Sharn, it is relatively safe and affordable. Lacking a large amount of hospitality services, the resident immigrants care for their own.
- Redstone
- Almost the largest commercial districts in the city, Redstone is notable for its beautiful masonry.
- Middle Districts
- The Bazaar
- Definitively the largest market in Sharn, this district is centered around an open-air bazaar, with a red market (violence-discounted goods).
- Broken Arch
- This residential district has a reputation because of the treason of its founders, the ir’Tyrans, and is rife with crime.
- Hareth’s Folly
- Based on the mad architectural designs of Hareth ir’Talan, the district has almost every style of building on Eberron. It is also known for its aerial sports, and serves as the neutral start and finish of the Race of Eight Winds.
- Rattlestone
- The residential quarters for most Bazaar workers.
- Stormhold
- Dura’s merchant class lives in Stormhold, known for its secure fortifications.
- Tumbledown
- The worst residential district in Middle Dura.
- Underlook
- A hospitality district just above the quality of the lower districts.
- Lower Districts
- Callestan
- This inn district is notorious as a gathering place for criminals, and is the staging grounds for most recent conflict between the Boromar and Daask gangs. House Tarkanan and the Tyrants are also based here.
- Fallen
- Formerly Godsgate, a temple district, this area decayed as the temples left, and was decimated on 9 Olarune 918 YK when a massive floating crystal tower fell into the district (the anniversary of which is memorialized as Crystalfall).
- Gate of Gold
- Ironically named, this district is full of poor tenements.
- Malleon’s Gate
- This district is the center for goblin housing and commerce, and a common stop for Droaam immigrants.
- Oldkeep
- A mostly illegal trade district, Oldkeep also houses many workers from Middle Dura.
- Precarious
- The Stores
- Also a warehouse district, the Stores are less safe and are a common waystation for illegal goods before sale.
Ethnic Neighborhoods
- Highhold is a significant dwarven district, both in population and design.
- Overlook, also in upper Dura, is the center for almost all kalashtar immigrants, along with their human Adarian brothers.
- Malleon’s Gate is dominated by goblins of all types, from long-time free Brelish bloodlines to newly arrived Droaam and Darguun goblinoids.
- Dar San in Precarious is home to an isolated Riedran community, mostly made of laborers totally loyal to their merchant masters.
